The year 2023 witnessed a transformation in the mainstream agenda. The missions of Malaysia Rahmah and Malaysia MADANI continued to be actively promoted, aiming to embed themselves deeply into the thought framework and actions of not only civil servants but also every individual. The goal is for these values to become a part of everyday normalisation.

Physical limitations experienced by individuals classified as persons with disabilities (OKU) may hinder their capabilities, as described in this book. Facing such circumstances often leads them to withdraw from interacting with others due to overwhelming feelings of self-doubt and inferiority.

The Proceedings of the Research Colloquium of Institut Sosial Malaysia compiles findings from a series of colloquia organised by Institut Sosial Malaysia (ISM) to discuss current social issues through in-depth studies and research. This proceedings document is a compilation of papers presented at the Second National Social Work Conference 2023, held on 13 and 14 September 2023 at the Social Institute of Malaysia. The event was organised by the School of Applied Psychology, Policy and Social Work (SAPSP), Universiti Utara Malaysia, and the Social Institute of Malaysia. This marks the second conference organised by SAPSP focusing on social work and current social issues.
